All of Africa is part of the biosphere, but Africa itself has many different ecosystem.  There is the desert, Mediterranean, tropical grassland, mountains, tropical rainforest, and dry grassland.  These are all different ecosystems that encompass Africa.  It is very hard for an area of that size to be one continuing ecosystem.

Africa is an extremely diverse continent with various ecosystems or vegetation zones. Of these ecosystems are the Mediterranean, Tropical Grassland, Hot Desert, Mountain Regions, Dry Grassland, and Tropical Rain Forest.
