Agriculture has long been a vital sector of Malaysia’s economy. Today, its biggest exports are rubber, palm oil, and cocoa. For domestic trade, farmers grow bananas, coconuts, rice, and pineapples, among other fruits.
Since rice is a staple food in the Malaysian people’s diets, the country imports rice from Vietnam and Thailand, its neighbors, to complement what is grown at home.
