What are some materials that cars can use to make them lighter and faster?

Some lightweight materials include aluminum, plastics, magnesium, carbon fiber, and metal matrix composites. For every 10% of weight eliminated from a vehicle's total weight, fuel economy increases by 7%. Aluminum is probably the most major material - it can reduce the weight of a body of a car by half, and most manufacturers are already using it.
