The UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples is a non-binding political document drafted to outline the individual and collective rights of indigenous peoples on a global level.  It outlines their rights to be free from discrimination and to participate in their own social, political, and economic futures.  The declaration was opposed by New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and Canada, on the grounds that the language in the document was vague and open to multiple interpretations.
