Coffee can increase your short term memory by stimulating the prefrontal cortex of your brain. This part of the brain can increase concentration, awareness, reflexes, and perception. It also improves long term memory recall in both quality and speed. However, a study conducted in 2007 also found that it decreases hippocampus activity, which stores your long term memory. Thus regular consumption of coffee may eventually slow long term memory function.
