Africa has an abundance of both wind and solar power, but wind power seems to be more topographically specific, more prominent near the coastlines. Most African countries receive and average of 325 days of bright sunlight per year, making solar power a very viable energy option.

Hello!

While Africa has a rather high potential for using wind energy, only Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia really utilize it. South Africa could soon be joining the these three countries, but hydro and photovaltaic (PV, solar power) are more popular.

The nations of Africa have made significant advances in the us of PV power and it plays an important roll in providing electricity to rural areas. However, the only significant grid-connected energy is, surprisingly enough, hydro power.
