The best way to get rid of mold, whether it is in particles in the air or actively growing on a surface, is to stop the source (leak, open water, etc.) and control the temperature and humidity of the area. Mold will grow more aggressively in humidity above 65% and has even been seen to grow in humidity less than that. You'll also want to cool the temperature of the air as well - down to between 65 and 70 will help your chances of ridding the mold. Keep in mind though that mold is always present in the air and you're most likely not going to make an environment completely sterile.

So, stop the source, circulate your air with a fan, turn on a dehumidifier, and make sure the temp. doesn't get too high and you should be good. If you have mold to clean up, consider getting a vacuum with a HEPA filter to be sure of collecting all of the mold particles.

If you want to get rid of mold particles, the best way is to purchase an air purifier. An electric one is the most convenient and efficient way of ensuring your air is clean. For a cheaper alternative you could buy an aerosol that eliminates airbrone bacteria including mold.
