Is the red-bellied black snake venomous?
The red-bellied black snake is venomous, and while described as "somewhat less venomous than many other Australian snakes" by the Australian Venom Research Unit (cited below), its poison still has the ability to cause coagulopathy, neurotoxicity, and myolysis in humans. The average venom yield per bite is recorded at 37mg (with the highest recorded at 94mg).
