Do organic farmers get any financial support from the government?
asked 19 weeks ago in Natural & Organic
Genearlly speaking, no. There is no widespread financial support for farmers just because they are organic, the way there is for farmers that grow certain subsidized crops. However, there are small programs funded through government agencies that provide support for specific practices that organic farmers may qualify for. For example, several states offer funding to help farmers transition to organic practices. Also the National Resource Conservation Service offers programs that help fund specific irrigiation practicies or grazing techniques.

No. Organic farmers do not receive government subsidies. This is the reason why a lot of organic produce is much more expensive, as it costs more to produce certified organic produce than it is to grow produce with pesticides and chemicals.
