Good question, montoya. As cerberus pointed out, there are some technologies that exist in which we can transmit power over the air. Another form of wireless energy that is more readily available are these things called power mats. You put your phone or electric gadget on the pad, and it gets charged without having to plug in.

Yes. Working prototypes are transmitting electricity using magnetic fields to power devices. Eric Giler was featured at TED.com to demonstrate the so call WiTricity. It is projected to be market ready within 5 years.
